Bio
Coming
out in the late 60's, when there was only one womyn's
bar in the worst section of downtown Indianapolis, took
all the creative energy I possessed. I had to find
a nice flannel shirt and hoped that no one saw me going
into the bar.
After a 30-year span of working jobs I hated, I stopped
trolling around in life and entered college at 48.
There I began to pursue a career working with
computers. After the first semester I enrolled in
the graphic arts and designing program. About the
same time I had started an on-line relationship , with a
womyn in Kentucky. Desiring to send her cards, I
looked al over the web, and in local stores, for
womyn-to-womyn cards I could send her, to assist in
sweeping her off her feet. :-)
I found that the choices were few and the meanings fell
short of what I desired to say. Finding nothing I
liked, I decided to design my own cards, and she loved
them. After moving from Kentucky to Florida, my
partner encouraged me to keep creating. We then
started a business making female-to-female cards and
posters. The first festival we attended, I was
truly astounded by the response from the womyn in
attendance.
It took me awhile to say, "I am an
artist." At 50 I have finally found my dream
and niche in life, to create and support womyn's
community by offering them a choice ... cards and
posters for women by women.
