Bio & Statement
"I have no memory of ever wanting to be anything
but an artist. I always try to arrange my life - with
varying degrees of success & frustration - to make
room and time for art making.
I began my career
with crayons, made the natural progression to charcoal,
pastel and paint and was finally dragged, kicking and
screaming, because of a college course requirement, to
photography, where I have remained ever since.
Photography is about things that interest me the most -
light and color and light and light and the way it can
make the most ordinary, everyday scenes and things and
pieces of things and moments and people look beautiful
or mysterious or different or interesting or magical.
But a box of crayons
still has the best smell."
